  • Where is my refund?
    If you filed your return electronically with our office, your refund should arrive in two to four weeks. If you filed a paper return, your refund may take up to six to eight weeks. Use the links below to track your refund check. You will need the following information to check the status of your refund: Social Security Number Filing Status Exact Amount of Expected Refund If you live in a state other than Massachusetts, please visit your state's Division of Taxation website to track your refund.
  • How do I pay my Tax Prep invoice?
    If you e-Signed your tax return via SafeSend, your tax preparation invoice was included in the documents you reviewed. You may use that SafeSend link to view and pay your invoice at any time. A copy of your tax preparation fee will also be included in your SmartVault Client Tax Returns folder. To pay your invoice, use the link below and enter the amount owed.
  • What is the deadline to send in my tax documents?
    Please reference the Organizer Cover Letter you received for the document deadline. If you are unable to submit your documents by that date, your return may be extended. Please note that we will not accept camera photos of your documents. Whenever possible, download electronic copies of tax information directly from your employer, financial institution, etc. If you are uploading directly to your Vault, your documents must be in PDF format. We will also accept Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. If you are scanning your documents, please scan both front and back and separate each document onto its own page.
  • Can I just email my tax documents?
    To maintain our clients' privacy and security, please use your SmartVault to upload any sensitive information or documents. From your Vault's homepage, use the "Upload Documents" option on the left-hand side and choose "Client Source Documents" for the corresponding tax year. If you do not have a SmartVault account and need to relay sensitive information, you can send a secure e-mail through SafeSend Exchange by using the link below. Emails can easily get lost, so to avoid any delays regarding your return, we encourage our clients to use the provided channels to send over their important documents.
  • What is SmartVault?
    SmartVault is our secure Client Center hub. Each client or corporation will have their own personal vault to submit tax documents, view past returns, upload IRS letters, view payment vouchers, and more. Our office will retain up to five (5) years of prior tax returns for your convenience. Your various tax documents will be cataloged by tax year (e.g. TY2022 refers any documents received in 2022).
  • How do I access my Vault?
    Existing clients will receive an email invite link to set up their SmartVault. The invite will come from "notify@my.smartvault" so be sure to check your Spam folder. Or just use the link below to access your vault. Important Note: New users logging in for the first time will need to click "Can't Sign In" and follow the steps to set up their password. New clients are encouraged to use the video walkthrough to explore how to upload, view, and mange their documents in their personal Vaults.
  • Where can I find a copy of my tax return?
    Once your tax return is processed and e-Signed, our office will download a copy to your SmartVault. It includes filing instructions, your estimated payment vouchers, your tax preparation invoice, and a PDF copy of your return. Log into your Vault and click "View Files and Folders" on the left-hand side. Click into your named Vault and choose the Tax Year (TY) for the return you'd like to download or print. Within that folder, you'll see "Client Tax Returns" Your Tax Return PDF file will look like one of the following examples: SMITHJ_SMITHJOHN_2023_1040_Tax Returns SMITHJ-2023ArchiveTaxReturn
